High School Students

In Years 9-12, we offer a greater variety of community service opportunities and the opportunity to become mentors for the younger clubs. Activities for high school students vary in nature but always include an element of character formation, community work, and study skills.

A major focus is study and for this purpose Heathgrove is open to all high school students Monday to Friday after school and Saturdays after 10am.

  • Study Skills

Every afternoon high school students come to Heathgrove for supervised study sessions. The girls are invited to have afternoon tea followed by two 45-minute study sessions from 4-6 pm.

During exam periods more intense study sessions are available at Heathgrove, including weekends away. We also run study skills seminars once a term and the girls benefit from one-on-one mentoring in creating and sticking to their study goals.

Heathgrove has a weekly private tutoring program for students in Years 9 -12. Any questions can be directed to Otylia at studysessions@heathgrove.org.au

  • Spiritual Development- Talks & Circles

Heathgrove offers a weekly formation talk also called a Saint Raphael circle. This term was first coined by Saint Josemaria in 1935 and has since been used by Opus Dei members as a means of formation for young people. The objective of these classes is "to provide Christian and human formation to university students, secondary school-goers, and young people from various professional and social backgrounds. In accordance with their circumstances, it helps them in practical ways to deepen in the treasures of the faith and to live their lives in keeping with the Gospel and the promises made in baptism. In a word, it enables them to develop their human and spiritual abilities and place them at the service of God and of others: forming faithful sons and daughters of the Church, exemplary citizens, Christians who act freely and uprightly in professional, family and social life."

The circle itself is "a cycle of sessions about the Christian life. It is based on the Gospel and on the Catechism of the Catholic Church, and contains explanations about the sacraments, prayer, the cardinal and theological virtues, divine filiation, and how to find God in study, work and social relations. The classes are short, and pitched in an informal and apostolic style, and are fundamentally practical: they try to illustrate the attractiveness of faith commitment in the everyday circumstances of life. As a complement to the classes, the moderator chats periodically which those who wish to do so, to resolve their questions and guide their Christian life and apostolate." I believe the circles provide a weekly little nudge which can help  your daughter to little by little reset their struggles, get some input and keep forging ahead in their teen years.
